We hope you enjoyed our first edition of ‘Get to know the people at DBD’ last month. As promised, this month we will be chatting with Lauren Lockley.
What department do you work in?
I am the Manager in the Customer Finance department. We are a team of 5 with 2 more recruits coming up. Our Customer Finance controllers are Amanda Coleman who works full time, Jo Rollini and Sharon Ferris who work part time, and then Emma Jackson who is our new full time Customer Finance Administrator.
What does your job role involve?
Well as a team we ensure that we are collecting all of the money for the company. Each member of the team has allocated customers and that will vary in amount based on whether they are full time or part time.
How long have you been at DBD?
I’ve been at DBD 7 years and will be coming up to 8 years in August.
Have you worked in any other areas at DBD?
Yes, I started out in the scheduling department and worked there for about 2 years. The departments are massively different, I have a lot of respect for the Scheduling team and I really appreciate what they do, it’s hard work. Having that history really helps me in my role as I understand what they go through. They are dealing with site agents and I am now dealing with surveyors and buyers; it’s good to understand both roles.
How does DBD compare to past jobs you’ve had?
DBD care a huge amount for their employees. They are very people focused and they really make you feel like you are part of a team; other companies I have worked for are just focused on the numbers. DBD care for individuals and so it’s a really nice environment to work in.
How do you feel about your team?
I love my team and we are really close; we have been together for a long time. Everyone has time for each other, we are work colleagues and friends which is really nice to be able to say. They are all really hard working and committed too which makes my role as manager a lot easier.
What motivates you in your daily role?
Seeing positive results and success through a team. I like helping people to feel they are accomplishing something and achieving their goals. That’s what keeps me going.
What aspirations do you have for your future at DBD?
To continue managing and supporting the team , that’s my main focus. I want to continue to run a happy team with the support of Danielle Farenden our new Group Finance Manager. We have had a couple of different direct line managers over the last few years which has been really good because I feel I have learnt so much from each of them. Now I am excited to work with Danielle, who will give a fresh approach to our department.
