House builders and developers today offer the standard package of single oven, hob, hood, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer and then offer upgrades from the basic oven, hob and hood through their Sales and Marketing Suites or Option Centres. Providing it doesn’t mean having to change the design of the kitchen to meet the upgrade, and many developers see this as a major margin contribution on each house sale.
Single ovens are often upgraded to built-under double oven – this can be achieved easily as the oven simply slots between two units replacing the single oven and housing unit. Stainless Steel appliances are being upgraded to steam ovens and self-cleaning Pyro ovens. Extractor upgrades, from integrated cooker hoods to feature hoods such as stainless steel chimney hoods or hoods with glass canopies. And 4-burner gas hobs are being upgraded to a 5-burner and ceramic hobs to induction. And while an oven, hob and hood is fitted as standard for an additional cost there is a high uptake on fully integrated dishwashers and fully integrated fridge freezers.
