Cooker Hood Trends 2014

Article by Robbie Prestedge, Built in Hot Product Manager at Electrolux Major Appliances

Cookers hoods are coming out of the closet and into the kitchen in a big way! More consumers want a cooker hood that makes a stunning feature in the kitchen – as well as performing the function of removing cooking smells, grease etc. Big feature hoods are becoming more sought after because these hoods make a dramatic and stylish focal point. If a minimalist look in the kitchen is part of the brief then a discreet hood which integrates into the kitchen furniture will more than likely be preferred.

Consumers have several decisions to make which not only cover the style of hood they need.  Size, installation options, recirculation or extraction, power and noise level should all be considered. Noise levels will also become important if you ‘live, eat and entertain’ in the kitchen. Most cooker hoods will have a noise level of around 70dB – so if you want one with a low noise level, then pick a model which is less than 60dB.
